UK industry expert invests in Maryland startup Crab Sports
Simon Collins backs firm as it launches online operations in the Old Line State

UK industry veteran Simon Collins has invested in Maryland-focused sports betting operator Crab Sports.
Collins, who co-founded slingo supplier Gaming Realms and Cashcade , confirmed his involvement with the firm days after it launched its online operations in Maryland.
The startup recently became the 11th operator to secure an online sports betting license in the state.
Crab Sports, which was founded in 2021, has positioned itself as a locally focused sportsbook for Marylanders.
As part of its license application with the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission, Crab Sports said: “With diversity and a local approach being part of our DNA, we will not stop there, and intend to build a truly Maryland company that partners with other local businesses, employs local team members, and enhances the reputation of sports wagering.”
The operator currently only offers a web version of its sportsbook, with an app in development.
Collins is chair at both Jogo Global and Backstage Play.
Collins said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the pioneering team at Crab Sports.
“Our mission is to revolutionize the sports industry by providing a comprehensive platform that caters to athletes, enthusiasts, and sports lovers worldwide. From the latest news to detailed athlete profiles, expert analysis, and state-of-the-art odds – we’ve got it all.”
