Tipico ignites US push following New Jersey license approval
Germany-focused operator receives conditional approval from NJ regulator to launch mobile betting app
Tipico is set to debut US sports betting mobile app in New Jersey following a conditional license approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE).
The app is now available for download by Garden State sports fans, and will be soft-launched next month, with odds managed by Tipico’s in-house trading team.
“We are very excited to be expanding our mobile sportsbook offering to a new international market,” Tipico CEO Joachim Baca said.
“Regulatory approval from the state of New Jersey is another significant step toward introducing US consumers to our unique sports betting platform,” he added.
Tipico has long targeted the New Jersey market for its US debut, opening its first US office in Hoboken in December and appointing Adrian Vella as US MD.
Since then, the Germany-focused operator has been on a significant recruitment drive in the state, adding staff in marketing, operational and IT roles.
Tipico is actively seeking further sportsbook licenses across the US market.
“At Tipico, we knew that New Jersey would be the perfect state for us to kick-start our business in the US because of its sophisticated mobile sports betting audience and mature regulatory and licensing environment,” Vella said.
“With an incredible pool of local talent in the New York metro area, we’re thrilled to establish our headquarters in Hoboken and continue expanding our team.
“We’ve dedicated significant time and energy to build a long-term foundation for the US market, and today marks an important milestone in that journey for Tipico,” Vella added.
In July, Tipico inked online casino supply deals with B2B igaming suppliers NetEnt and Scientific Games and enlisted Digilant as its main US media buyer.
Earlier this month, the sportsbook operator signed its first US-facing sports data deal with Sportradar.
