Sweepstakes operator trade body unveils first edition of code of conduct
Social and Promotional Gaming Association reveals membership framework to drive standards across the sector as eyes continue to turn to social sweeps games

The Social and Promotional Gaming Association (SPGA) has published a code of conduct for its sweepstakes operator members as the verticals continues to garner more attention.
The trade body has introduced the code as a means to “spotlight the processes and technologies” at SPGA member sites and other sweepstakes casino and sportsbook businesses.
The founding pillars of the code include the use of “suppliers, technology, or policies” by SPGA members to ensure compliance and a standardized level of consumer protection.
The pillars include using age verification to limit real-money play to those aged 18 and over and industry-standard KYC, AML, and geolocation tools.
The trade body said that in the coming months, more details on the code of conduct would be made public, as well as further pillars being introduced.
An external third party will also be brought in to certify member compliance with the SPGA code.
SPGA spokesperson Camilla Wright said: “The pillars of the SPGA code of conduct highlight the technology and processes already in place at most social sweeps operators to ensure that the millions of adults who enjoy these games do so in a safe and reliable environment.
“The standards of the code of conduct go above and beyond the accepted best practices for traditional social casinos.
“We look forward to continuing to develop the code of conduct to further strengthen the commitment of SPGA members to compliance and player protection while providing consumers with a highly social and engaging experience that is always free to play.”
The SPGA was formed in September and currently has 10 founder members in its ranks, including leading sweeps operators Fliff and High 5 Games.
