Baty’s decision to step down comes at a time when the operator is in ongoing discussions with Canada-based Contagious Gaming regarding a potential takeover of the UK-based firm.

“Cliff has been an important part of our management team since May 2013, and during that time, he has built a strong finance function across our international operations,” Ian Penrose, Sportech CEO, said.

Baty joined Sportech in 2013 from UK bookmaker Ladbrokes, where he held a number of senior finance roles including finance director of its egaming and international businesses.

“I have enjoyed my time at Sportech and am proud of the progress that we have made in developing the group,” Baty said.

“I wish Ian [Penrose] and the team all the very best as they continue to take Sportech forward,” he added.

Under the terms of his contract Baty is obliged to serve a 12 month notice period, but Sportech said his actual departure date will be confirmed in due course.

The operator also said the search for his replacement had already begun both internally and externally.
