Scientific Games appoints new COO and president

Provider selects former aircraft manufacturer CFO to lead gaming and lottery divisions
Scientific Games has appointed Karin-Joyce (KJ) Tjon as its new chief operating officer and president, effective today.
Her responsibilities will include oversight of the gaming and lottery operations and driving the company’s organizational strategy, business development and fiscal discipline.
Tjon will report directly to Scientific Games’ CEO Kevin Sheehan, who said: “We have tremendous confidence in KJ’s ability to lead our long-term growth strategy and execution, and continue the strong growth across all of our businesses.
“Her deep experience in international finance, performance accountability, and culture transformation will further enhance our ability to deliver for our customers, employees and our shareholders.”
Tjon joins Scientific Games after a two-year stint as CFO and executive vice president of Epiq Systems, a services provider for the legal profession, where she oversaw legal, corporate governance, risk compliance, and all aspects of international corporate finance.
Before that, she spent three years as CFO of Hawker Beechcraft Corporation, a $2.5bn aircraft manufacturer.
Tjon joins SG six months after Sheehan himself, who also had no experience in the gaming industry prior to his appointment.
