Scientific Games appoints lottery veteran to vice-president role
Gina Smith joins the lottery firm as VP of lottery enterprise systems products after more than 20 years in the industry

Scientific Games has recruited Gina Smith as the company’s new vice-president of lottery enterprise systems products.
The new VP will work with the Atlanta-based firm’s lottery systems arm, liaising with operations and technology teams.
Smith joins Scientific Games with over 20 years of experience in the lottery vertical under her belt.
This includes serving as deputy director and CFO of the Maryland Lottery Agency over the course of a 19-year stint, from January 2001 to December 2019.
After a brief spell as the deputy legislative author at the Office of Legislative Audits from January to June 2020, Smith moved to the role of deputy director of gaming compliance at the Virginia Lottery where she has spent the past four years.
While at the Virginia Lottery Gaming and Compliance division, Smith spearheaded regulatory and licensing functions for casino and sports betting, as well as the launch of expanded testing of sports betting apps and gaming machines.
Speaking about the appointment, Walt Eisele, chief technology officer at Scientific Games, praised Smith’s considerable industry experience.
He said: “With an incredibly deep understanding of lottery enterprise applications and business operations, Gina brings relevant real-world experience supporting the expansion of our systems business and ensuring our platforms continue to meet the evolving needs of our lottery customers. We are excited to welcome her to our team.”
Smith’s appointment represents the latest senior hire at Scientific Games this year.
Amy Steinman joined as its new chief HR officer back in June, following on from the appointment of Beth Bresnahan as chief communications and brand officer in May.
