Rush Street Interactive taps social gaming exec as new CMO
Brian Sapp joins BetRivers operator from Rec Room as he steps up to C-suite role for the first time in his career

Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has appointed Brian Sapp as the company’s new chief marketing officer (CMO), with the social gaming expert joining the firm’s executive management team.
Sapp will move into the newly created position from gaming software development firm Rec Room, where he served as head of growth between June 2021 and February 2024.
Prior to that, he spent more than three years with Jam City, initially as the group’s VP for user acquisition, marketing, and ads before becoming SVP of the vertical.
The exec also counts senior positions at WB Games and Tapjoy on his CV, with his move to RSI marking his first step into the real-money gaming world.
With Sapp joining RSI, the business’ COO, Mattias Stetz, will now return his focus to scaling operations and overseeing Latam growth after managing the marketing division.
Sapp will report directly to RSI CEO Richard Schwartz upon joining the business.
Speaking on his arrival, Sapp said: “I am thrilled to join Rush Street Interactive at a time when the company has such strong momentum.
“RSI’s customer-first focus really resonated with me as a marketer who understands what it takes to succeed in a competitive mobile landscape.
“I look forward to leveraging my experience and expertize to drive forward our marketing initiatives during RSI’s next phase of growth and deliver exceptional experiences to our customers.”
Schwartz added: “As we continue to grow and expand across the Americas, a marketing leader with Brian’s unique blend of gaming and mobile experience, strategic insight, and creativity will be additive to the team as we shape the future of our brand and continue to innovate our customer-first experience.
“We are thrilled to welcome him aboard to lead our marketing strategy, team, and operations.”
Last month, reports emerged that RSI was in talks with DraftKings over a potential sale of the business.
