Operator leverages Penn Entertainment partnership in Pelican State launch

PointsBet has launched its sportsbook offering in Louisiana after receiving authorization from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The US sportsbook operator held a ‘Ringing of the Bell’ ceremony featuring its senior director of regulatory operations Andrew Moreno and director of product marketing Heather Schiraldi Laferriere to commence operations in the Pelican State.
The launch in Louisiana marks the fourth state launch under the partnership with Penn Entertainment first announced in August 2019, a partnership later extended in March 2021, granting the firm market access to certain Penn markets for a period of 20 years.
It represents PointsBet’s 12th online sportsbook operation in the US, following successful launches in New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Kansas.
PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken welcomed the launch, paying tribute to PointsBet’s staff.
“I am truly delighted to see our product now available to the super user bettors of Louisiana, who now have an app that is designed and ongoingly improved to meet their every need,” Aitken said.
“Additionally, I’d like to give a massive thank you to the entire global team at PointsBet for continuing our momentum forwards.
“We look forward to delivering Louisiana sports fans, from Bourbon Street to the Bayou, our fast, premium sports betting products. And, with the NFL and CFB season in full swing, the timing is perfect to showcase our live betting capabilities,” he added.
The launch of PointsBet in the state brings the number of Louisiana sportsbook operators up to eight.
