PointsBet hires former Connecticut Lottery legal counsel
Andrew Walter to lead operator’s compliance and regulatory efforts as it expands into new states

PointsBet has appointed former legal counsel for the Connecticut Lottery Corporation Andrew Walter as its senior director for compliance and regulatory affairs.
Walter spent nearly eight years with the state lottery after working as a legal research clerk and assistant reporter of judicial decisions for the Connecticut Supreme Court.
Walter told EGR NA that working within the betting industry had been on his radar since PASPA was repealed in 2018.
“As I did my research on operators, PointsBet consistently came to the top,” he said.
“There is so much work to be done as PointsBet grows its presence in the US market, and I can’t wait to support that growth by ensuring that we remain compliant in all jurisdictions while establishing professional and productive relationships with regulators.”
PointsBet recently signed a multi-year deal with Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) covering retail and online sports betting, daily fantasy, online casino, and free-to-play games.
The deal has secured the operator as the exclusive gaming partner of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League, as well as all three teams’ home arena, Pepsi Center.
The operator is also primed to debut its igaming product in New Jersey.
