PointsBet adds former Nevada Gaming Control chair to board
Becky Harris also chaired the Responsible Gaming Committee and works with global betting regulators to improve policies
PointsBet has appointed former chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NCGB) Becky Harris as a non-executive board director.
Harris is a former Nevada State Senator, representing Nevada’s Ninth District, and has also chaired the Responsible Gaming Committee and sat on the National Council of Legislators for Gaming States.
She is currently a distinguished fellow for Gaming and Leadership at the University of Nevada’s Las Vegas International Gaming Institute.
She focuses specifically on sports betting, working with regulators and industry stakeholders to help them analyze and improve gaming policies.
PointsBet chairman Brett Paton said Harris’ expertise and strong knowledge of the evolving betting landscape would provide great benefit to the company.
“I could not think of a better set of skills to assist the board as we execute on our strategy,” Paton said.
PointstBet US CEO Johnny Aitken said: “Becky’s track record in sports betting, regulatory and legislative gaming affairs within the US market is second to none.”
Earlier this month the firm issued 16.66 million new shares to institutional investors in a bid to raise funds earlier this month.
The firm set out to raise a total of $84m to fund marketing and acquisition, product development and US business expansion.
