
Pennsylvania betting revenues down 35% as first online sportsbook goes live
In its first week SugarHouse Casino’s online sportsbook recorded revenues of $38,753, compared to retail earnings of $637k


Pennsylvania betting revenues reached $2.9m in May, down 35% on April’s results, according to the latest Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) figures.
The state’s first online offering, launched by Rush Street Interactive’s (RSI) SugarHouse Casino and built by Kambi, recorded online revenues of $38,753, compared to retail revenues of $673,093.
The offering was launched in the last week of May and is available via mobile browser and the Google Play Store.
Rivers had the second highest earnings behind SugarHouse, recording $641,029 in May. Parx followed with $639,922.
Total handle for the month was $35.3m, with $1m in taxes paid by the eight licensed operators.
Celebrating a year of legal betting last week, New Jersey reported May revenues of $15.5m, up 58% year-on-year.
At a recent PGCB meeting, RSI revealed it was plotting to rebrand its Pennsylvania property to Rivers, with the shift also expected to be carried out across its online betting and casino brands.
Meanwhile RSI’s Rivers brand is expected to launch its own online sportsbook in the coming weeks.
