Pennsylvania begins search for first igaming compliance director
PGCB targets experienced industry hire for new position working alongside land-based regulators

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has started a recruitment process to hire its first director of igaming compliance operations, the first online-focused C-level role in the regulator’s history.
In a job description summarizing candidate requirements, the PGCB confirmed the role would be as a subordinate to the PGCB’s director of gaming operations, Paul Resch.
The successful applicant will be required to spearhead the state’s igaming regulatory operations, as well as working extensively with Pennsylvania’s licensed igaming and sports betting operators.
“Work involves guiding and directing activities involved in the evaluation and verification of igaming programs, software, platforms, and games in conjunction with the director of gaming operations, director of sports wagering operations, and office of gaming laboratory operations,” the description states.
“The employee, in coordination with other board staff, develops or guides policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines for activities relative to igaming conducted by licensed gaming entities authorized by the board,” the job description adds.
Highlighted qualities of interest to the PGCB include an understanding of servers, systems and technology, as well as an understanding of PGCB procedures and state laws and regulations governing gambling.
The director would also be required to provide testimony before PGCB’s office of hearings and appeals, the PGCB commissioners, chief counsel, executive director, and other courts of law or hearing forums.
The PGCB has said it is seeking candidates with a minimum of five years’ experience in gaming regulation or individuals that have at least seven years’ experience in IT and compliance where no prior gaming experience exists.
The starting salary for the director of igaming operations position begins at $96,926.
In addition to recruiting for the directorial role, the PGCB has commenced a recruitment search for a chief counsel, to provide legal support to the regulator’s board and its executive director.
