Oregon Lottery’s Scoreboard app racks up $7.9m in handle during June
Soccer, table tennis and MMA the most popular sports bet with the state’s monopoly operator due to lack of major US action
Scoreboard, the Oregon Lottery’s mobile sportsbook powered by SBTech, attracted nearly 256,000 bets in June, amounting to handle of $7.9m – up 8.7% from May.
Data released by the lottery showed that the state’s only legal sports betting option generated GGR just shy of $778,000 in June.
There were 674 registrations and 7,782 unique active players on the app, while the average bet size was $30.64. Margin came in at 9.92% during the month.
Meanwhile, pre-match bets, of which there were 161,777, accounted for 62% of pre-match and live wagers. Singles and teasers made up for 66% of all bets.
Soccer attracted the most action, with 72,251 bets from 3,008 unique players, followed by table tennis with 52,134 bets and MMA with 49,744 bets.
A total of 18 different sports were gambled on in June – from Aussie Rules to volleyball – although cricket attracted a measly handle of $3, which lost.
Oregon, home to just over four million people, has just one legal sportsbook after SBTech won the contract to operate the state-owned Scoreboard app. The product launched last October.
However, Scoreboard was knocked offline for a prolonged period earlier this year when SBTech was the victim of a cyberattack, while Oregon Lottery separately predicted Scoreboard would rack up a net fiscal loss of $5.3m in 2020.
SBTech is now owned by DraftKings following the completion of the three-way merger involving SPAC Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp.
