
New York breaks mobile sports betting revenue record for second month in a row
Empire State sees revenue generated from online sports betting rise to a record $211.5m in January as handle dips below $2bn for first time since December

Licensed operators in New York recorded $1.9bn in revenue during January as gross gaming revenue reached a record high of $211.5m
The new GGR high beat December 2023’s previous record of $188.3m and was up on January 2023’s return of $149.4m.
In terms of handle, players in New York State wagered a total of $1.96bn during January, up 9.3% from the $1.79bn that was registered in the same month in 2023.
January was also the first time in three months in which New Yorkers failed to bet more than $2bn in total.
Flutter Entertainment-owned FanDuel was the strongest performer in the state. The firm posted $109.2m in revenue for the month, the highest figure ever posted by an operator, while processing $867.1m in wagers.
This also marks the first time that any operator has reported more than $100m in online betting revenue in a single month.
Meanwhile, DraftKings came in second, banking $71m in revenue. This does, however, mark its highest monthly total to date in terms of revenue while the operator took $663.8m in bets.
Other strong performers in the Empire State in January included Caesars, which reported handle of $198m and revenue of $13.6m and BetMGM with handle of $118.8m and a corresponding revenue of £10.
Elsewhere in New York, DFS operator PrizePicks has pulled its pick ‘em-style game format and is in the process of applying for a license to return to the market in due course.
