New Hampshire achieves seven-month high sports betting handle in October
Handle topped $77.8m with GGR also hitting its highest level since the start of the year

The New Hampshire Lottery has reported that sports betting handle for October reached $77.8m, which is the state’s second-highest level since the record figures set in March 2023 of $103m.
Out of the $77.8m, $65.9m was bet on mobile with DraftKings – the only operator allowed to offer online sports betting in the state after securing exclusive rights in November 2019.
Retail sports betting accounted for $12m of the October total.
The $77.8m betting handle is an increase of 16.5% when compared to September’s handle of $66.8m.
October 2023’s handle was the highest the Granite State has seen this year since the record figure posted in March of $103.4m.
Gross gaming revenue (GGR) also reached its highest level since the beginning of the year, recording $8.8m in October, the best monthly figure since January’s $12.6m.
Breaking the figure down by segment for October, GGR for online gambling was $8.4m and retail was $334,433.
In terms of tax paid for the month, $3.7m was generated from online and $144,756 from retail sports betting.
For the New Hampshire Lottery’s financial year so far (July to October 2023), combined handle sits at $220m, with GGR at $21.8m, and the state has recouped $9.5m in tax up to the end of October as well.
New Hampshire’s neighbor, Vermont, recently legalized sports betting but is yet to go live, with state projections estimating that operators will net $10m in the first year. If accurate, the Green Mountain state would recoup $2m in taxes.
