Nevada betting revenues slip 45% in May
State falls behind New Jersey for the first time since PASPA was repealed last year
Nevada posted May sports betting revenues of $11.3m, down 45% on the previous year, in part due to losses in football bets.
Football made a $2.4m loss, lowering overall revenues, while baseball contributed $7.8m and basketball $4.5m. $1.3m was generated via other events and $72,000 from parlay bets.
Overall handle in the state remained flat year-on-year, reaching $317.4m.
In comparison, New Jersey reported May revenues were up 58% to $15.5m, while handle for the month reached $318.9m.
Pennsylvania saw May betting revenues drop to $2.9m, with $35.3m in handle. During the month, the state welcomed it’s first online sportsbook to the market.
Independent bookmaker Circa Sports is the latest sportsbook to launch in Nevada, opening two venues at the D Las Vegas and the Golden Gate Casino.
