NCPG executive director steps down from role after 26 years
Keith Whyte leaves his position at the non-profit organization with Nancy Green set to step up in an interim capacity

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) executive director Keith Whyte has stepped down from his position after 26 years with the non-profit organization.
Whyte first joined the NCPG as executive director in 1998, after spending three years as the director of research at the American Gaming Association (AGA) from 1995 to 1998.
He officially vacated the post on January 13.
Nancy Green has been appointed as the NCPG’s interim executive director while the organization searches for a permanent successor to Whyte.
Green has recent experience of assuming roles in a temporary capacity. She served as the interim executive director for the American Sustainable Business Network from October 2023 to September 2024 and also spent 10 months as the interim CEO of the Architectural Humanities Research Association (AHRA) between January and October 2023.
Writing on LinkedIn about his departure, Whyte said: “After more than 26 years as executive director of the National Council on Problem Gambling it is time for a new challenge.
“What an honor It has been to advocate on behalf of problem gamblers and their families for almost three decades. Running a non-profit is one of the most challenging yet rewarding jobs, and one that is impossible to do without the support of great leaders, members, and staff.
“I will continue to work on responsible gambling and gambling addiction issues and look forward to a time when comprehensive prevention, education, treatment, enforcement, responsible gambling, research, and recovery services are available, accessible, and affordable for all.”
The NCPG will conduct a nationwide search for a new executive director, with the hopes of appointing one later this year.
Green added: “Having guided several organizations through periods of change, I appreciate that maintaining operational excellence and mission focus are paramount during transitions.
“NCPG’s work in reducing gambling-related harm is too important to pause. The dedicated staff, committed board, and engaged stakeholders will continue driving essential programs and advocacy efforts forward while we chart the organization’s next chapter.”
NCPG president Susan Sheridan Tucker noted: “During this transition, our mission to lead awareness and advocacy efforts to reduce gambling harm remains our top priority, and we are confident in the team we have in place to seamlessly carry out this vital work.”
