GSN Games snaps up social casino developer Plumbee
San Francisco-based firm says deal will add talent and geographical reach to its business
GSN Games has acquired London-based social casino developer Plumbee for an undisclosed sum.
The San Francisco-based firm has taken a 100% stake in Plumbee, which was previously backed by Endemol and Idinvest Partners, and is the firmâs third major acquisition in the past two years.
Plumbee is headquartered in Shoreditch, London, and the takeover will add around 40 members of staff to GSNâs existing staff.
GSN chief operating officer Steve Brunell said the deal âimmediately bolstersâ the firms ambitious growth plans by leveraging Plumbeeâs top talent and social casino expertise.
âWe are also excited about the expansion of GSN Games into the UK, where we will look to capitalize on the high concentration of world-class gaming talent to supplement our outstanding Plumbee team,â Brunell said.
Plumbee was founded back in 2011 and is best known for its Mirrorball Slots game, which last year achieved more than 10 million downloads on Facebook and mobile.
Plumbee CEO Raf Keustermans said he was âdelightedâ to be joining forces with GSN Games and to add its art, engineering, product management, analytics and marketing expertise to the firm.
Post-acquisition, Keustermans will become general manager of GSNâs Plumbee studio, and will work directly with Todd Heringer, senior vice president and general manager, casino.
The Plumbee deal marks GSNâs third acquisition in two years, after snapping up Idle Games in March 2015 and Bash Gaming a little under twelve months before.
