Golden Nugget to start marketing sportsbook now it can take NBA bets
Operator looks to next NFL season to push betting product which currently ranks seventh out of the nine licensees in New Jersey

Golden Nugget plans to start marketing its New Jersey sportsbook now its ban on taking NBA bets has been overturned, EGR has learned.
State law had until now prohibited betting operators of sports team owners to accept bets on games within their league, but a new bill reversing the law was signed-off by the governor last week.
“We haven’t been active in terms of marketing investment because up until now we couldn’t offer any bets on the NBA,” SVP online gaming for Golden Nugget Thomas Winter told EGR NA.
Winter said the current NFL season would allow the operator to better understand the market and give it an idea on where to increase its marketing spend.
“We will start heavily marketing [the sportsbook] in the next NFL season. We haven’t spent anything up to now, but we will start this season, using a sensible ‘test and learn’ approach,” Winter said.
In August the operator reported online betting revenues of $181,427 in New Jersey, ranking seventh out of the nine licensees.
However, Golden Nugget has dominated the state’s online gaming space for 33 consecutive months.
With its license twice the size of any other licensee in the market, it recorded $15m in revenue in August.
