Golden Nugget switches to Scientific Games-powered sportsbook
Operator extends its igaming deal with the Las Vegas-based provider to include sports betting once its SBTech deal ends

Golden Nugget has extended its contract with Scientific Games (SG) to include sports betting once the operator’s existing deal with SBTech ends.
The operator will likely transition onto SG’s Open Bet technology within the next 12 months.
Golden Nugget’s SVP and general manager for online gaming Thomas Winter told EGR the new product would potentially launch for the next NFL season.
“With Don Best, they probably have the best team out there in terms of trading US sports specifically, so it made a lot of sense to get sports betting from Sci Games which were already providing our online gaming,” Winter said.
The deal includes the opportunity to expand Golden Nugget’s betting offering to further states beyond New Jersey where it currently operates and gives the operator access to SG’s retail betting technology.
The operator has also extended its igaming platform contract with SG to include Pennsylvania and further states, depending on future online gaming legalisation.
Jordan Levin, group chief executive for digital at Scientific Games, commented: “Following Golden Nugget’s transition to our solutions, we look forward to launching sports on top of our long-standing player account and igaming relationship.”
He added: “Golden Nugget has a wide player base across the US, having pioneered the igaming space in New Jersey from its earliest days, and we’re excited to power their sports betting and igaming presence, providing a seamless and reliable end-to-end betting experience.”
The deal will run until 2024.
SBTech is widely expected to focus more on DraftKings after it was acquired by the DFS giant last year in a $3.3bn tie-up.
SG last month signed on to provide its Open Bet platform to FanDuel as part of its wider contract with parent-company Flutter.
It will also provide retail and online betting services to Betfred’s US business in Pennsylvania.
