Fortune names BetMGM and FanDuel as two of New York's best workplaces
Operators ranked 16th and 18th as Fortune identifies the 35 best places to work in the Empire State

Both BetMGM and FanDuel have been named as two of the best workplaces in New York, according to Fortune.
The global business magazine, with the help of data compiled by Great Place To Work, determined that BetMGM ranked the higher of the two operators in 16th place, while FanDuel followed closely behind at 18th. Fortune’s list comprised the top 35 large companies to work for in the Empire State.
Great Place To Work, a global authority on workplace culture, uses its Trust Index Survey as part of its methodology, which involves analyzing each workplace on a variety of different metrics.
Those metrics include whether leaders are accessible, whether employees feel respected and fairly paid, as well as whether they feel the work they produce is meaningful.
That analysis stems from an employee survey, which contains 60 statements on a five-point scale as well as two open-ended questions. The final lists are ranked based on the answers of the employee surveys.
As well as the surveys, Great Place To Work also takes into consideration each company’s industry, revenue, size, and employee demographics.
According to the rankings, all BetMGM employees are part of three weekly meetings led by CEO Adam Greenblatt, as well as other C-suite executives.
Topics within those discussions tend to range from the operator’s financial health to praising individual, team, and business-wide victories.
Any new recruit to BetMGM is introduced on the call in a bid to make all employees feel welcome. More than 90% of staff regard the JV as great place to work, a steep rise from the average 57% for other US-based groups.
A further 94% claim that they are proud to tell others what company they work for.
Ranking 16th in the very competitive list marks a significant improvement for BetMGM after appearing in 56th place of the 2022’s top 65 best workplaces in New York in the small and medium company category.
Meanwhile, employees of 18th-placed FanDuel regard the Flutter subsidiary as an “amazing” place to work and view those in leadership as “responsive and available”.
The company also places a large focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion alongside an array of learning and development opportunities for its staff.
This if the first time FanDuel has featured in a Fortune Best Workplaces list.
BetMGM and FanDuel are the only two gambling operators to appear in the latest edition of the rankings.
According to the list, FanDuel has 2,873 US-based employees with BetMGM being home to 1,104 staff.
Topping the list for the top 35 large companies in New York was American Express, followed by Synchrony and Wegmans Food Markets.
Fortune’s Best Workplaces lists are also compiled for the Bay Area, Chicago, and Texas, where no gambling companies made it into 2024 editions.
