Flutter adds US media gurus to board as non-executive directors
Former Disney finance chief Christine McCarthy and Robert Bennett link up with operator and take roles on audit, and risk and sustainability committees
Flutter Entertainment has added former Walt Disney Company CFO Christine McCarthy and ex-Liberty Media CEO Robert ‘Dob’ Bennett to its board as non-executive directors.
Both appointments will be effective from July 30, with the FanDuel parent company adding further US prowess to its board following its primary listing in New York in May.
McCarthy, who left Disney in June after serving as its strategic adviser for 11 months, will sit on the operator’s audit committee.
She initially joined the global entertainment brand in 2000 as SVP and treasurer, before becoming executive VP for corporate real estate, alliances and treasurer for 10 years between 2005 and 2015.
McCarthy was later appointed senior EVP and CFO of Disney, a role she held for eight years between 2015 and 2023.
She is also a director at Procter & Gamble Company and is chair of its audit committee as well as director of FM Global and chair of its finance committee.
Alongside serving as a non-executive director, Bennett was appointed as a member of the risk and sustainability committee.
Having served as managing director of private investment firm Hilltop Investments since 2005, he previously spent time with Discovery and Liberty Media as president.
The 66-year-old currently serves as a director at Liberty Media, as well as HP.
John Bryant, Flutter chair, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dob and Christine as non-executive directors of the board which will be further strengthened by their appointments.
“Both have experience and career backgrounds that are highly relevant to our business. We look forward to Dob and Christine joining the Flutter board and contributing to the company’s future.”
Away from board level, Flutter recently hired ex-Spotify director Mark Shaw as director of global payments strategy.
