
FanDuel beats its 2024 Super Bowl record as 16.6 million wagers placed
Flutter Entertainment brand found wagers placed increased 19% year on year, with nearly three million active users betting on NFL’s showpiece event

Flutter Entertainment has revealed FanDuel set internal Super Bowl records for wagers placed as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, February 9.
More than 16.6 million wagers were placed by three million active users on FanDuel surrounding the NFL’s showpiece event.
The number of bets placed was a 19% increase when compared to last year’s game, which was won by the Chiefs against the San Francisco 49ers.
This year, customer activity peaked at nearly 70,000 bets per minute.
In regard to exact score bets, a 38-35 Chiefs win, which would have been a repeat of their match-up three years ago, and a Chiefs 27-24 victory were the most popular bets.
The Philadelphia Eagles emerged as the eventual winners, 44-22, with most bettors picking the over on the 48.5-point total ahead of kick-off.
Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was the most popular bet for MVP as well as most popular pick for anytime touchdown scorer, though the former New York Giant star failed to place on the scoresheet.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who did secure MVP, was the second most popular pick for the accolade.
Prior to the game, FanDuel reported 50% of its customers used its new responsible gambling tool My Spend during the 2024 NFL season.
As for other operators’ performance during the Super Bowl, over 2.5 million active DraftKings’ users placed 12 million bets on the game, with peak bets per minute coming just before kick-off at more than 59,000.
While Entain, that today announced CEO Gavin Isaacs was stepping down with immediate effect, also recorded some interesting statistics.
The operator offered over 1,500 markets on the game, including predicting the coin toss and guessing the color of the energy drink poured over the winning coach.
According to its data, 60% of stakes across its global brands were on the Eagles, with all states it operates in outside of Kansas backing them to win.
Tom Ritzema, Entain group trading director, said: “We saw lots of activity on the over points market, with many customers predicting a high-scoring Super Bowl.”
Elsewhere, geolocation firm GeoComply reported a 14% year over year rise in active player accounts over Super Bowl weekend.
