Fanatics Betting and Gaming secures North Carolina market access with NHL franchise
Matt King-led operator inksdeal with Carolina Hurricanes as it hopes to make a dent in soon-to-launch market

Fanatics Betting and Gaming has secured market access in North Carolina after partnering with the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.
The new challenger brand in the US sports betting space will be hoping to join the likes of DraftKings, BetMGM, and bet365 in potentially acquiring a license in the Tar Heel State.
The duo have penned a long-term partnership agreement which will see Fanatics become the Hurricanes’ official sports betting partner.
Under the remit of the deal, Fanatics will be afforded in-arena signage, broadcast integrations, and PNC Arena activations for Hurricanes fans.
Additionally, the operator will have the opportunity to place a retail sportsbook at the Hurricanes’ PNC Arena at some point in the future.
Ari Borod, Fanatics chief business officer, said: “We are excited to have the Carolina Hurricanes as our market access partner in North Carolina.
“We are working with one of the most talented professional sports organizations that knows how to grow a sports business by putting a competitive product out on the ice.
“We look forward to partnering with the organization to bring sports fans in North Carolina a sports betting product that meets the expectations of such a passionate fanbase.”
Don Waddell, Hurricanes GM, added: “Fanatics Sportsbook will bring a user-friendly experience for North Carolinians to wager on sports responsibly, and we’re proud to partner with them on this endeavor.”
Elsewhere, the North Carolina State Lottery Commission has asked all prospective operators to submit respective proposed internal controls for review by January 26.
The regulator confirmed nine operators are currently being reviewed, with a mooted go-live date in the state to coincide with March Madness.
