Evolution eyes North America push as revenues jump 60%
Provider says new studio in Canada will pave the way for more expansion
Casino provider Evolution Games has pledged further expansion in North America following its recent deal with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.
The provider, which today reported a 60% year-on-year rise in Q1 2017 revenues to EUR 39.7m, said the BCLC deal would give it a springboard for more partnerships.
“We will later this year build a new Live Casino studio in the Metro Vancouver area in Canada, our eighth studio in total,” said Evolution CEO Martin Carlesund.
“It [the BCLC deal] is an agreement of high strategic importance to Evolution and the start of a potential expansion in North America.
“Canada is a regulated market, where each province has its own gaming and lottery operations under government management.
“The studio is initially being built for BCLC, but with the intention of serving other provinces over time. The new studio will create over 180 jobs and the gross winnings of BCLC are reinvested in various community initiatives in British Columbia,” Carlesund said.
“I am convinced that Live Casino will be a popular product, just as in Europe, and that the new studio will lay the foundation for Evolution’s global leadership in live.”
The Stockholm-listed supplier’s EBITDA was also up 65% to EUR 17m, thanks to new agreements during the quarter with mybet, Matchbook and White Hat Gaming.
