Eilers & Krejcik Gaming: DraftKings new US online GGR market leader
US gaming analysis firm asserts Boston-headquartered operator’s gross gambling revenue share exceeds that of rival operator FanDuel in August

DraftKings has usurped FanDuel’s place as the number one operator by GGR market share in the US, according to latest data released by US gaming analysts Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG).
Publishing a snapshot of its estimates of US online gambling market share by GGR for August, EKG tracking showed DraftKings’ market share amounted to 32.5% across igaming and sports betting.
In contrast, EKG estimates put FanDuel’s market share at 29.6% of the US igaming and sports betting market.

The chasing pack of BetMGM, Caesars, and Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers brand remained unchanged.
“Per our estimates, DraftKings took the US online gambling (OSB plus online casino) GGR share lead in August 2023, a major move that signals a shifting competitive landscape – one that we believe will continue to shift as big new brands Fanatics and ESPN Bet begin to ramp,” EKG said in a LinkedIn post.
The firm added that the trend was “seemingly continuing into September from states that have reported data so far”.
EKG also pointed to DraftKings’ acquisition of Golden Nugget Online Gaming in May 2022 as marking the start of the operator’s GGR share rise.
The trading of places comes after FanDuel’s GGR market share as slowly slipped from well above 35% at the end of 2022.
DraftKings co-founder and president of North America Matt Kalish welcomed the data on X, formerly known as Twitter.
We enjoy the chart, but no one is anywhere close to satisfied yet at DraftKings! https://t.co/keUZqTnpZH

EKG’s estimates come just days after the Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported DraftKings exceeded its rival FanDuel in both sports betting handle and revenue during September.
DraftKings, which is headquartered in Boston, reported handle of $290.1m and $27.5m of revenue during September, far ahead of FanDuel’s handle of $121.9m and revenue of $13.9m.
In New Jersey, a recent Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) September revenue report also placed DraftKings ahead of FanDuel.
DraftKings and its Garden State partner, Resorts Digital, reported sports wagering revenue of $49.8m, a figure up 112% year on year, while FanDuel, and its partner the Meadowlands Racetrack, reported sports betting revenue of just $34m in September.
