DraftKings said the deal âcomplementsâ its partnership with the MLB as the leagueâs official DFS provider, and further establishes its âdominant positionâ in the baseball market.
âBaseball is one of the fastest-growing categories in DFS and our MLB partnerships ensure that we will continue to offer the sportâs most engaging fantasy games and experiences,â DraftKings CEO Jason Robins, said.
DraftKings also revealed its MLB 2015 contests would culminate with a $4m Fantasy Baseball World Championships, which will see 80 finalists compete in a live final for $4m in prizes, with winner receiving $1m.
âThe excitement and tremendous user engagement surrounding our $4m Fantasy Baseball Championship is further proof of the value of our relationships with MLB and its teams,â Robins added.
The news comes shortly after DraftKings confirmed it had completed a $300m Series D funding round led by Fox Sports, with the cash ear-marked for marketing and product development.
Rivals FanDuel has also recently completed a $275m funding round, as the two behemoths go head-to-head over player sign ups and market share.
