DraftKings enters West Virginia with mobile betting app
Operator originally faced delays in launching in the state as one of its servers was located in New Jersey

DraftKings is the latest to launch its mobile sports betting app in West Virginia, as the second operator to bring betting back in the state.
West Virginia is the second state DraftKings has launched its Kambi-powered product in after signing a market-access deal with Penn National in December 2018.
Matt Kalish, chief revenue officer at DraftKings, said: “We look forward to serving our fans with the top-rated DraftKings Sportsbook app, that features numerous consumer protection features and strives to provide the broadest selection of betting options with the best odds and rewards in West Virginia.”
John Finamore, SVP of regional operations at Penn National Gaming, said: “We are pleased to help welcome DraftKings to West Virginia as they provide a quality online sports betting experience that will benefit their customers and the state.”
West Virginia bettors will be able to access the operator’s DFS platform via the sportsbook app and vice versa.
The operator faced initial setbacks in launching in West Virginia in June as one of its servers was located in New Jersey, failing to comply with Wire Act requirements to have servers located within the state of operation.
FanDuel entered the state with its own sportsbook app yesterday, reintroducing mobile betting to the state following Delaware North’s BetLucky app going down in March.
Penn National also plans to enter the West Virginia betting fray after signing a deal with Kambi to provide its sports betting back-end in a number of states.
