Colorado betting handle jumps 49% month-over-month in June
Table tennis tops the rankings for consecutive months with $9.1m wagered on the sport

The latest figures released by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming reveal that $38.1m was bet on sports in the month of June, up 49% from the $26.6m wagered in May.
The total gross revenue achieved by the operators in the state was $3.5m, while net betting proceeds amounted to almost $2.2m.
This means the state collected $217,000 in taxes thanks to the 10% tax imposed on net betting proceeds.
Due to fact “limited retail operations” were open during June, the regulator said the figures bunched mobile and online together “for confidentiality reasons”.
There were six online operators and one retail sportsbook operating during the month, although a handful of other digital sportsbooks have entered the market in July.
The regulator hasn’t so far released a breakdown of market share for each licensee since Colorado went live in May, yet it has again provided a rundown of the top-10 most popular sports.
For the second month running, table tennis topped the rankings, with $9.1m bet over the course of June.
This was followed by MMA with $4.1m, baseball with $3.4m, soccer with $2.6m, while golf and tennis attracted $1.3m and $1.2m in wagers respectively.
A total of $4.7m was gambled on parlays/combinations alongside $10.5m on what was classed as ‘other’ sports outside the top-10 list.
July’s figures are expected to beat June thanks to the return of major US sports this week and last week, although the recent coronavirus outbreak within MLB’s Miami Marlins threatens to curtail baseball’s return.
