Caesars debuts pair of retail sportsbooks in Louisiana ahead of NFL kickoff
Gaming operator also opens World Series of Poker Room at Harrah’s New Orleans

Caesars officially debuted new retail sportsbooks at two of its Louisiana properties ahead of kickoff to the 2022 NFL season.
The state-of-the-art sportsbooks were unveiled in grand openings at Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel & Casino, with each featuring a ribbon-cutting and ceremonial first bet.
In addition, Harrah’s also held a grand opening for its new World Series of Poker Room, a 5,000-square-foot venue that is now the largest poker room in the Bayou State.
“This was a special week for Caesars and our longstanding commitment to Louisiana,” said Caesars Entertainment regional president Dan Real. “The opening of our world-class Caesars Sportsbook locations and the new World Series of Poker® Room add to the legacy that Harrah’s New Orleans and Horseshoe Bossier City have built in the Gulf Coast region.”
The 5,700-square-foot sportsbook at Harrah’s boasts a 147-foot video screen and a high-powered audio system as well as four betting windows and 12 self-service kiosks for wagering. The sportsbook sits adjacent to the new 20-table poker room.
The amenities are part of an ongoing $325 million transformation of the New Orleans property expected to be completed in 2024.
To commemorate the opening, Archie and Cooper Manning were joined by former Saints great and Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson, who placed the ceremonial first bet – a $1,000 wager on the Saints to win the Super Bowl at 40/1 odds. Any potential winnings would go to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).
The Horseshoe property held its own event to mark the unveiling of its 6,900-square-foot sportsbook, which features three windows, 15 kiosks and nearly 100 TVs flanked by a VIP viewing section and an extensive bar.
Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler took part in the ribbon-cutting event, which preceded a $200,000 ceremonial first bet placed by a VIP and well-known guest.
“These incredible openings are a testament to Louisiana residents, our team members and the guests who visit these historic resorts,” said Caesars Digitall president Eric Hession. “We truly feel like we’re part of the home team in Louisiana, and we take pride in serving the great customers and sports fans in the state.”
