European online bookmaker Betway prepares US launch
Online operator secures brand license agreement with B2B provider Digital Gaming Corporation to provide sports betting and igaming to US customers
UK online betting operator Betway is set to take its first steps into the US after inking a brand license agreement with casino supplier Digital Gaming Corporation (DGC).
The operator has partnered with the UK-headquartered content provider, after DGC had secured market access agreements for 10 states.
The joint venture will offer US customers both sports betting and igaming across mobile and desktop platforms.
DGC originally entered the US via New Jersey, where it inked a slot supply agreement with BetMGM in September 2020.
Speaking to EGR, Betway’s Alan Alger said: “Betway has entered into an exclusive brand license agreement with DGC for the use of the Betway brand in the US.
“DGC has secured market access in a number of US states where it will use the global Betway brand for its sports betting and igaming offering,” he added.
A statement on the DGC website reads: “DGC believes that much of the key to driving success with the Betway brand will lie in the recruitment of the best skills and experience that online sports betting and igaming has to offer.
“DGC has recruited, through its global corporate structure, some of the most highly skilled and experienced personnel to lead various divisions on the ground in the USA.
“These leaders will build teams within the USA, and train and mentor all additional local resources, to meet the future growth and required scale of DGC Betway’s operations,” the statement concludes.
Additionally, DGC is looking to hire a new state manager to support its growth roadmap, with the individual set to report into EVP DGC – Betway North American operations, David Stevenson.
Betway ranked 23rd in EGR’s Power 50 in 2020.
The operator was founded in 2006 and maintains a slew of sports sponsorships in the UK , including with Premier League outfit West Ham United.
