BetMGM releases responsible gambling ad featuring NHL star
Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid features in TV and digital advert which reminds players to not get carried away when playing

BetMGM’s latest TV and digital ad will highlight the firm’s responsible gambling tools and feature NHL MVP Connor McDavid.
The operator’s ad will be shown not only on TV throughout the US and Canada, but also across digital outlets including X, formerly known as Twitter.
The ad sees McDavid talking to his friend, telling him that BetMGM has responsible gambling tools to stop players from getting carried away, only for the friend to respond that they never get carried away.
The friend then lists off several times he got carried away including purchasing hundreds of bobble heads and growing an extremely long beard.
The friend then realises the tools could help, with McDavid reminding his friend about the time he built an ice rink in his back garden.
The 30-second ad concludes with the friend saying “these tools are pretty great” and a voiceover saying BetMGM are committed to making gambling safe and fun.
Richard Taylor, BetMGM’s director of responsible gaming, said: “We are determined to lead the industry in promoting responsible gaming and we’re proud to be doing so in partnership with one of hockey’s greatest players.
“As the legalized sports betting and online casino industry continues to grow and evolve, we remain committed to equipping players with information, tools and resources to help them play in a responsible and sustainable manner.”
In a social media post on Instagram, McDavid said the message behind the advert was about staying in control.
He added: “[It’s] all about being responsible if you choose to bet – staying in control and not getting carried away. That’s super important to me. And I really hope it’s advice that everyone follows.”
The ad is being released as BetMGM and MGM Resorts join the National Council on Problem Gambling during Problem Gambling Awareness Month.
A report last week from Eilers & Krejcik highlighted BetMGM shed “material share” during Q4 2023 with igaming and online sports betting grip slipping 11%.
