Arizona surges to record $77.4m in September sports betting revenue
Return of football helps spur Grand Canyon State operators to $732.1m in monthly handle

The return of football led to a banner month for Arizona sportsbooks, which reported $77.4m in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for September, according to new data released by the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG).
The revenue figure represented a monthly record for the Grand Canyon State as well as a 30% year-over-year (YOY) increase from $59.5m in September 2023.
Handle, meanwhile, amounted to $732.1m – the second-highest all-time mark for Arizona – for the month, a nearly 20% YOY uptick from the same period last year. That equated to a strong 10.6% statewide hold rate.
Operators also handed out a combined $39.8m in promotional credits, leading to $39.7m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR) after the deductions of the credits.
That gave way to just under $4m in privilege fees paid by Arizona sportsbooks back to the state.
On the operator side, DraftKings and FanDuel continued to account for the lion’s share of the market, with the pair splitting the honors for most handle and revenue, respectively.
DraftKings grabbed the top spot in handle with $263.8m – or 36% of the overall market – from which it generated $26.8m in gross revenue. It also handed out a state-high $13.5m in promotional credits.
FanDuel, conversely, amassed the most revenue – $27.4m – on $231.5m in wagering volume, equating to an 11.8% hold that outpaced DraftKings’ 10.2% win rate. FanDuel doled out $10.7m in bonuses.
BetMGM held firm in the third spot on the podium, generating $86.6m in handle and $8.9m in GGR while issuing a little over $4m in bonuses.
Arizona maintained its status as a mobile-dominant market, with 98.2% of total handle and over 99% of gross revenue coming via online wagers in September.
