
Arizona operators’ handle falls to $849m in December 2024
Grand Canyon State records slow month when compared to November, with FanDuel holding off rivals DraftKings in gross revenue fight

Licensed sports betting operators in Arizona reported total handle of $849.3m in December 2024, according to the latest figures from the state regulator.
The Arizona Department of Gaming’s latest report showed handle had fallen 5.4% when compared to November’s figure of $897.6m.
Nearly all of the handle came from mobile and online operations ($844.3m), with the remaining $5m arriving from retail.
Gross revenue prior to free bet deductions dropped significantly to $49.3m when compared to November’s figure of $84.1m.
Adjusted gross revenue for December, after taking away promotional credits, fell to $25.8m after standing at $57.5m the month prior.
Arizona secured $2.6m in taxes from licensed firms for the final month of the year.
Looking at individual operators, FanDuel led the way in mobile handle market share, gathering $275m in wagers for the period between.
November’s leader DraftKings came second in the handle race with $272.7m and BetMGM behind in third place with $111.9m – slightly up on its November total of $111.1m.
Caesars Entertainment ($47.1m), Fanatics ($43.2m), bet365 ($40.1m), and PENN Entertainment ($22.9m) lagged behind the top three.
FanDuel also took first place over DraftKings when it came to mobile adjusted gross revenue, although the Flutter-owned operator’s revenue dropped from $22.3m to $13.6m.
DraftKings’ mobile adjusted gross revenue dropped from $18m to $9.2m.
Like the leading duo, the chasing pack all saw adjusted gross revenue fall in December.
Bet365 reported $8.2m in November gross revenue, which fell to just $32,433 in December, while Caesars slumped from $3.2m to $433,415.
Fanatics fell to $103,458 from $1.9m, and PENN drastically fell from $1.6m to $15,913.
For the calendar year of 2024, the Arizona Department of Gaming reported total handle for the state at $8bn and total taxes collected at $42.7m.
