BetMGM and MGM Resorts agree multi-year partnership extension with MLB
Expanded data, digital and experiential deal sees MGM Rewards become title sponsors of All-Star softball game
BetMGM and MGM Resorts International has signed an extension and expansion of its current sponsorship deal with Major League Baseball (MLB).
The renewed agreement, which originally began in 2018, will see BetMGM remain as an official sports betting partner, having become the first sportsbook operator to sign up with the league.
As part of the extension, BetMGM will continue to have access to a wide range of platforms including exclusive data and statistics arrangements through league and team platforms, which include MLB Network, MLB.com and MLB apps.
BetMGM will also have a presence at domestic and international activations including fan experiences.
“We are thrilled to extend and expand upon our groundbreaking work with Major League Baseball,” MGM Resorts senior VP of sports and sponsorships Lance Evans said.
“We’re incredibly proud of the growth and innovation that have transformed our industries since launching our partnership four years ago, and we’re eager to continue breaking new ground and delivering world-class sports and entertainment experiences for baseball fans worldwide,” Evans added.
These sentiments were echoed by BetMGM chief revenue officer Matt Prevost, who welcomed the announcement as an “exciting day” for both brands.
“The collaboration with the league allows us to reach new audiences while delivering a best-in-class baseball wagering product. We look forward to growing our industries together,” Prevost added.
The new deal will see the MGM Rewards loyalty programme become the title sponsor of this year’s All-Star Celebrity Softball game on 16 July at Dodger Stadium. In its twenty-first year, the event will feature the likes of Rob Lowe, Bryan Cranston and Chloe Kim.
In addition, MGM Rewards will become title sponsor of the first ever Saturday Extra Innings musical performance which will be headlined by Californian pop artist Becky G.
The partnership will also see the continuance of BetMGM and the MLB working on sporting integrity programmes within the sport, both on and off the field.
MLB chief revenue officer Noah Garden said: “Since creating this historic partnership four years ago, MGM Resorts and BetMGM have been truly collaborative and innovative business partners to Major League Baseball.
“With the success of Bettor’s Eye and introduction of All-Star Saturday’s Extra Innings concert, we look forward to seeing how MGM Resorts and BetMGM will continue to broaden their business with baseball,” Garden added.
In tandem with its MLB partnership, BetMGM has marketing-led deals with seven MLB clubs, and the agreement expansion comes just 24 hours after MGM Resorts International became the official partner of MLB Players, Inc. the functioning business entity of the Major League Baseball Players Association.
