Is sports betting legal?
Michigan came agonizingly close to legalizing sports betting and online gaming in 2018 after legislators in the Wolverine State passed an online gambling bill in December, only for outgoing Governor Rick Snyder to veto it after Christmas. By not signing the bill into law, this scuppered sports betting and online gaming’s chances until the next legislative session. However, hopes are high a bill will pass in 2019, while the current Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has suggested she backs regulated sports betting in Michigan.
