DraftKings dethrones FanDuel to top EKG’s latest OSB app testing report
New York-listed operator lands the spoils as testers praise improved SGP product and loading times, while BetMGM tumbles to ninth due to speed issues

DraftKings has replaced FanDuel at the summit of Eilers & Krejcik Gaming’s (EKG) online sports betting app rankings for H2 2024 on the back of a strong same game parlay (SGP) performance.
This is the first time in two-and-a-half years Flutter-owned FanDuel has lost its crown, as the analyst firm said the ongoing improvements made to DraftKings’ in-house product had “come home to roost.”
As per the EKG Line newsletter, the firm wrote: “DraftKings’ same game parlay functionality scored higher, and testers loved the player props and flash bets available on the platform faster loading and bet processing times.”
Speaking on EKG’s Zero Latency podcast, lead product tester Danny McCarthy said that while DraftKings had usurped its rival, there was still opportunity for the pair to swap places again in future reports.
He said “The scores between DraftKings and FanDuel were so close in this report. I think just about every category score was about within a tenth of a point.
“With the scores being that close, absolutely FanDuel could come back and take the top spot in the next report.
“Because the margin is so slim, there are multiple ways they could take that top spot back. But of course, DraftKings is going to be making product improvements because they have a slight edge.”
Elsewhere in the report, Fanatics Sportsbook made a significant leap from sixth to third place, with EKG’s army of volunteer testers across various states reporting positive feedback on cash-out and SGP improvements.
EKG said the leap was a result of an “across-the-board improvement” for the app.
Away from the top of the rankings, bet365 slipped two places to fifth, although EKG acknowledged the decline was “sparked by a recent UX overhaul.”
EKG added: “We suspect these issues may be temporary, as customers often take time to adjust to new looks.”
Further down the list, BetMGM is now languishing in ninth, with the main issue flagged by users as speed.
EKG said: “BetMGM’s speed and loading times are a foregone conclusion at this point, and considering it has been a consistent issue for more than three years, it feels repetitive to keep bringing it up. But, yet again, it is the single greatest issue our testers see with the app.”
The fall will come as a frustration for BetMGM given the improvements management have noted following the addition of Angstrom Sports-powered markets.
