Tipico claims industry first award for responsible gambling efforts
National Council on Problem Gambling rewards sportsbook operator with iCAP accreditation following Fair Play Pledge launch in February
Tipico has been granted Internet Compliance Assessment Program (iCAP) accreditation for best practices in igaming player protection, becoming the first US sports betting operator to secure the award.
Given out by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), iCAP accreditation is based on Internet Responsible Gambling Standards which addresses self-exclusion, game and site features, advertising and promotion, and payments.
Tipico launched the Fair Play Pledge in February 2024 which helps users “fully maintain control of the bets they place” such as cool-off periods and limits.
Alongside the pledge, the operator has implemented a “phase-based” approach which sees the firm educate customers who have exceeded its responsible gaming automated thresholds.
Bryan Schroeder, senior vice-president for compliance and legal at Tipico, said the accreditation aligns with the firm’s goal to give customers the best possible experience when placing a bet.
He said: “ICAP accreditation is a meaningful award for Tipico because it validates our approach to make fair play a company-wide initiative that requires buy-in by our employees. I am incredibly proud of our team for rallying around our efforts to continuously improve safety and clarity.

Accreditation is valid through to March 2026 and is acquired through evaluation of company governance, customer support initiatives as well as efforts in research and education.
Gambling Integrity conducted the review of Tipico’s policies.
