
Iowa makes $2.2m in betting revenues in first month
Online and mobile accounted for 20% of overall earnings during August


Iowa has recorded overall betting revenues of $2.2m in the first month since launch, with online accounting for 20% of the total.
Seven of the 19 venues offering betting also took online bets as of August 15, with William Hill’s Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino having the highest online revenue of $237,023.
Isle Casino Hotel in Waterloo followed with online earnings of $76,906 and Isle of Capri in Bettendorf took $35,577 in revenues.
Overall handle in Iowa was $8.6m, with online bets making up 43% of the total.
$145,915 in tax was paid to the state during the first month of operation.
Iowa became the 11th state to launch sports betting in August, and Catena Media’s Play Iowa analysts have predicted annual revenues of $300m once its hits full maturity.
New Jersey operators saw a 174% year-on-year revenue increase in August, with a total of $25.2m recorded during the month.
