13. Hong Kong Jockey Club (2017)
Andreas Meinrad

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) does not split its financial numbers between online and offline, but figures made public for the entire group are eye-watering and would appear to make it leader of the Asia-facing pack.
In the 2016-17 period, the operator recorded a 7% YoY rise in turnover to HK$216.5bn, while revenues for the 12-month period stood at $33.9bn – split between horseracing ($17.7bn), football ($12.5bn) and Mark Six Lottery ($3.7bn).
And HKJC clearly has ambitions to expand its reach into the UK market following an agreement with the Tote late last year to enable British punters to bet into Hong Kong’s pari-mutuel pools.
It also signed up industry PR firm Square in the Air to act as its UK-facing PR and marketing representative to help expedite its expansion.
