Sports betting firm launches a collection of NFT athletes as part of a new metaverse

Sports betting operator ZenSports, have launched a new sports metaverse, ZenSportsia, which will allow users to mint their own Zensportsian Athlete NFTs in March 2022.
Holders of a Zensportsian NFT will receive several benefits, including but not limited to monthly prize draws for live sporting events; esports tournament invites once a month, annual esports tournament championship series, exclusive access to a Discord channel with NFT and cryptocurrency giveaways.
Originally just an app for people to meet up and play sports, ZenSports changed its focus to sports betting in 2019. In August 2021, it received a Nevada non-restricted gaming licence, which allowed any form of legal gaming within the state, including slots, table games, and sports betting.
ZenSports also offers various esports tournament software features and services to tournaments such as tournament brackets, registration and payments, broadcasting/streaming via Twitch, chatting via Discord, and prizes/rewards using cryptocurrencies and NFTs. ZenSports hosted more than 40 tournaments last year, and its Discord channel has over 4000 members.
Following the announcement, ZenSports co-founder and CEO Mark Thomas said: “The ZenSports team is passionate about decentralisation and, particularly, decentralised finance and gaming.
“We are thrilled to be venturing into the exciting metaverse and Web 3 world with the launch of ZenSportsia. ZenSports has always been at the forefront of all things gaming and sports-related since we launched back in 2017, and we remain deeply committed to a decentralised world where gamers, athletes, and bettors can transact in a trustworthy manner that provides more choice than any other platform out there.”
