WynnBET launches sports betting app in New York market
Operator becomes seventh sportsbook targeting record breaking Empire State

Wynn Resorts has successfully debuted its WynnBET sportsbook in the New York sports betting market.
The platform, which went live on Friday, is the seventh sportsbook to receive approval from the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), with only Bally Bet and Resorts World Digital yet to be approved for launch in the Empire State.
Reports that the firm would receive approval to begin operations surfaced last week.
In line with the high spending marketing activities of other operators launching in the Empire State, WynnBET has offered a number of incentives to new players, including free bets.
“WynnBET beginning operations in New York is a monumental step in the growth of our company,” Wynn Interactive President Ian Williams said.
“New York represents a significant population of our Wynn Rewards membership, and we are confident in our ability to compete in this market by providing the first-class service and gaming experiences synonymous with the Wynn Resorts brand,” he added.
The New York launch marks WynnBET’s eight operational state, joining Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Virginia.
WynnBET has confirmed that it also plans to launch in Iowa and Louisiana “in the near future,” with the firm already having concluded a successful pre-registration period in the Pelican State.
WynnBET secured market access in New York in partnership with the Oneida and St. Regis Mohawk compacted tribes as part of a consortium of operators.
New York has enjoyed a blockbuster debut as a sports betting market, with New Yorkers placing more than $1.625bn in the first 23 days of operation, following the state’s launch on January 8.
This surpassed the previous record handle record of $1.3bn, generated by neighboring New Jersey sportsbooks in October 2021. The high handle has come despite the state’s 51% tax rate on sports betting.
The Empire State’s six live operators took $449.3m in bets during the final seven days of January, generating a gross sports betting revenue of $21.6m and $57.6m for New York’s coffers.
In a statement issued to local media, New York State Racing, Gaming and Wagering Committee chairman Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. welcomed the record breaking-figures as a vindication of the decision to legalize sports betting in the state.
“When we brought mobile sports betting to New York we had confidence it was going to be a success, but to be able to break the national record of total handle for sports betting in a single month in our very first month, with primarily only six sportsbooks, is both rewarding and exciting,” Addabbo, Jr. said.
“Breaking this record proves that New York was ready for mobile sports betting and we are providing our state with a new revenue, and educational and addiction funding source. It also can give us an indication of where we go from here, especially with the Super Bowl within our sights,” he added.
