Wynn Interactive looks within for new CMO
Ex-Churchill Downs online gaming VP Alan Stremel promoted to executive role at sportsbook operator

Wynn Interactive has confirmed the internal promotion of Alan Stremel as its new chief marketing officer (CMO).
Stremel joined Wynn in November 2021 as a VP of customer retention, spending just eight months in the role before advancing to CMO.
He previously worked as a VP of online gaming and sports for Churchill Downs between 2018 and 2021 and served as a senior director of content and customer relationship management for Churchill’s online brand TwinSpires.
A veteran of the marketing sector, Stremel has also spent more than a decade in marketing and SEO-related roles for BullfrogTech, Raidskin Internet Marketing, and CTLB.
In his new role as CMO, Stremel will be responsible for Wynn Interactive’s marketing strategy, centring around the WynnBet sportsbook, reporting to Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings.
Last month, Billings confirmed a shift in the firm’s user acquisition mix, beginning in early November, to focus on “proven performance” marketing channels where Wynn can achieve a positive return on investment.
Elsewhere, it has been revealed the Wynn Resorts-owned social betting brand BetBull will cease operations with effect from July 3.
No reason has been given for the closure yet, however, unconfirmed speculation has suggested that despite being profitable, the BetBull brand was shuttered by Wynn over a lack of confidence in potential growth in the UK market, where the BetBull brand operates.
Wynn purchased a 22.5% stake in the BetBull business in 2018, in a strategic partnership aimed at launching sports betting in the US.
Two years later, Wynn followed up this stake with an $80m investment into a joint venture with BetBull, resulting in the social bookmaker being absorbed into Wynn Interactive.
Wynn Resorts took a 71% stake in the new business and BetBull investors held the other 29%.
