Weekend Review: Super Sunday saves bookies on weekend of two halves
Friday night football favourites win as the layers revel in Six Nations defeat for England in Cardiff
The bookies were delighted that Super Sunday failed to live up to its name this weekend as the two headline fixtures in the football ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.
Bet365 described it as a solid weekend on the football front with a number of low-scoring high-profile matches and this was reiterated by Kindred Group.

Kindred’s Ali Gill told EGR Intel: “The weekend debate was settled as the League Cup Final came out just ahead of Man United against Liverpool as the biggest match of the weekend.
“The 0-0 draw in both matches, which had both promised goals, including in-play, were dream results for Kindred, leaving us miles ahead.
“To top off the weekend, our third biggest event was Burnley’s shock defeat of Spurs which meant a big green tick and a strong margins in all three.
“We took a few hits elsewhere, including losing on more Premier League matches than we won, but it was nowhere near enough to dampen the overall results,” he added.
Fortunes were more mixed for William Hill after Friday night’s top-flight matches went the way of the punter, with wins for Watford over Cardiff and West Ham over Fulham.
Hills’ Rupert Adams said: “It was a strange weekend for us on football with contrasting fortunes over the three days.
“Things started off badly on Friday with both Premier League favourites West Ham and Watford winning and there were lots of goals in those games which is never good news.
“Things did not get any better on Saturday with the top five most popular selections all winning.”
Tottenham’s shock 2-1 defeat at Burnley despite a return from injury for Harry Kane provided some respite according to Adams: “Tottenham’s loss to Burnley was a ray of light for us but turnover tends to be lower on the early games.
“Thankfully, Sunday was much kinder and despite adverse results in Europe, two 0-0 results in the two main domestic games of the day got us back into the black,” he added.
Big thanks for all the kind messages of support, tough old test match but worth every bit of blood sweat and tears #passion #proud 🏴

Bet365’s Steve Freeth said operators would have enjoyed England’s Six Nations defeat to Wales in Cardiff a lot more than patriotic rugby union fans.
“The three Six Nations games went our way with Wales’ victory against England being the pick of the bunch,” said Freeth.
Adams added: “Rugby turnover is far less than on football but still we were happy to see Wales beat England on Saturday night with this match by far our best result of a challenging tournament.”
