Weekend Review: Mourinho is the bookmaker’s special one as Spurs defeat Man City
Ilkay Gundogan’s missed penalty lands one Betfred punter £6,800 as Faugheen shines at Leopardstown
Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham beat title holders Manchester City 2-0 on Sunday to delight the layers and provide the Premier League upset of the weekend.
A host of accumulator bets were wiped out with the result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, in a match that changed dramatically after a red card for City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko.
It proved to be another tough weekend for punters, with five top-flight draws across the round including three 0-0 stalemates.

Kindred Group’s Ali Gill said: “Spurs’ defeat of City was our biggest match, but Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Burnley was our biggest winner, while Man Utd’s 0-0 draw with Wolves was not far behind.
“All told, only Liverpool and Everton wins left us in the red as we came out ahead in the other eight top-flight matches,” he added.
One Betfred punter watched the Spurs City game through his fingers, according to spokesperson Peter Spencer, after staking £4 on a 13-fold Yes/No Both Teams to Score coupon.
The Cambridge-based bettor backed No in the clash and was overjoyed to see City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan miss a penalty as he held on to win £6,800.
Switching from soccer to American football, Super Bowl LIV took centre stage across the pond this weekend.
The Kansas City Chiefs pulled off a remarkable comeback to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Spencer said Betfred saw more action on US sports than ever before, while Kindred’s Gill added: “San Francisco were certainly well-backed to take Super Bowl LIV, and backers were feeling good going in to the fourth quarter.
“However, the Chiefs comeback was exactly what Kindred traders were looking for as we finished well ahead on the night margin-wise.”

In the weekend’s horseracing, Faugheen stole the show at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival. The 12-year-old romped home to secure a thrilling victory in the Flogas Novice Chase, to really whet the appetite ahead of Cheltenham Festival next month.
Gill said of the action: “Over at Leopardstown the Ireland Spring Juvenile Hurdle on Sunday gave us our biggest winning book as Aspire Tower fell as a 1/3 shot.
“The Dublin Chase was our worst result after Chacun Pour Soi justified 6/5 favouritism to finish ahead of Min, while Delta Work taking the Irish Gold Cup left us marginally ahead there.
“Overall the festival was a draw between us and the punters,” he added.
