Weekend Review: Mixed fortunes for Manchester clubs sees bookies win big
Bookies revel in 2-2 draw for top of the table Man Utd as Manchester City becomes title favourites

It was a good weekend for the layers in the Premier League as Stoke City held table toppers Manchester United to a 2-2 draw.
Kindred said it was their best result of the day, adding “Newcastle’s away win at Swansea and Man City destroying Liverpool with no away goals made for a strong weekend for us versus the punters.”
Betfred revealed that just 12 UK punters backed Manchester City to win 5-0 at odds of 80-1.
Spokesman Peter Spencer said: “Manchester City have overtaken rivals Manchester United as 5/4 favourites for the title after inflicting the heaviest defeat on Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp took over.”
Ladbrokes punters appeared to have backed Manchester City in Saturday’s early kick-off but were left disappointed by the end of the day due to Stoke’s late equaliser.
“It was very much a tale of two halves for both punters and bookies with the Manchester clubs,” said Ladbrokes’ Jessica Bridge.
“Punters welcomed the City result with open arms while United being held at Stoke for the fourth year running was the Magic Sign’s best result of the weekend.”
William Hill’s Rupert Adams said that a whole host of European giants failing to win as favourites made it a very pleasing weekend for the bookies.
“The fact that there were so many ‘nil’ results across the board on both days really helped, plus we had some decent European results with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund and Marseille not winning- all in all a very good weekend.”
The US Open also proved highly profitable for Kindred, although the final just about went the way of the punters with Rafael Nadal winning in straight sets over underdog Kevin Anderson.
BetVictor’s Charlie McCann said horseracing punters and oddsmakers battled to honours-even over the course of the weekend.
“Despite the fluent win of favourite Harry Angel in the Sprint Cup at Haydock, racing was good on Saturday with defeats for Winter and Churchill adding to the coffers.
“The National Stakes was a cracking result yesterday at the Curragh with Beckford extremely popular following the late defection of Gustav Klimt, although wins for the well backed Ribchester, Vazirabad, Cracksman and Order of St George made sure it was not all one-way traffic.”
