Weekend Review: Layers clean up on Premier League punting
Kindred comes out on top in all nine top-flight games as the Labour leadership contest hots up
The bookies enjoyed an early Christmas present this weekend as some surprising Premier League results destroyed the hopes and dreams of acca-backers.
Chelsea’s 1-0 home defeat to a Bournemouth side that had lost five in a row provided the shock of the round, while Manchester United’s draw with Everton at Old Trafford also boosted the coffers.
Kindred’s Ali Gill said: “After a few tough weeks we had a turnaround in the Premier League as we won in all nine games played so far, with Man Utd’s draw with Everton being our biggest winner.
“That and Chelsea’s shock loss also put paid to a fair few accas,” he added.

GVC-owned exchange bookie Betdaq revealed that £4.5m was traded on the Premier League action this weekend.
“Bournemouth’s defeat of Chelsea was the major surprise, but one customer called it, landing £11,562 after putting £913 on the Cherries at 13.7,” said head of marketing Mark Harkin.
“That was one of a number of five-figure winners, the largest being a lay of just over £15,000 at 2.08 on Atalanta to win at Bologna in Serie A,” he added.
Betfred enjoyed Arsenal’s 3-0 home defeat to Manchester City, with most punters predicting a closer scoreline. The Gunners have drifted to 20/1 to finish inside the top four this season.
The market on the next Labour Party leader following Jeremy Corbyn’s election defeat has also gained momentum – pun intended.

Salford MP Rebecca Long-Bailey is the current favourite with Betfred, having moved into odds of 6/4 over the weekend, as the party looks likely to stick with its left-leaning preference.
Wigan MP Lisa Nandy is at 7/2, while Sir Keir Starmer is the only male candidate in the top five at odds of 5/1 with the Northern operator.
Elsewhere, victory for England cricketer Ben Stokes as 2019’s Sports Personality of the Year put a small dent in the books. The batsman had been the heavy favourite for some time and finished ahead of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and sprinter Dina Asher-Smith.
The punters did however beat the bookies in the racing at Cheltenham on Saturday, as four of the seven favourites obliged including in the Unibet International Hurdle where Call Me Lord squeezed home after going off at odds of 2/1.
“Dame De Compagnie winning in the Park Mares’ Handicap was our biggest losing result in the book,” said Kindred’s Gill.
