Weekend Review: Bookies avoid bloodbath on Super Sunday
Low scoring draws for Chelsea and Arsenal helped the layers claw back losses amassed last weekend
Normality was restored in the Premier League punting this weekend as the layers got their revenge for last week’s “horror show” during a bookie-friendly Super Sunday.
Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal were all in action yesterday and all four were heavy favourites against Fulham, Everton, Manchester United and Wolves respectively.
However, just two triumphed as expected, with Liverpool’s 2-0 win at home to Fulham and Manchester City’s 3-1 win over United offset by Chelsea’s stalemate with Everton and Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.
Sunday could be a real bloodbath for bookies, the four-fold at 11/4 is v. alarming indeed. Buckle-up. https://t.co/TmzzHDLH4f

Betway’s Alan Alger said the firm enjoyed a good weekend of trading on the football: “For a couple of weeks we’d had our eyes on the doomsday scenario of all four Premier League favourites winning on Sunday 11th.
“But that was over in game two as Everton held Chelsea, and we could relax even more when Arsenal scraped a lucky draw against Wolves.
“At the same time Manchester City were beating Manchester United justifying favouritism in the big game of the weekend, but at their restrictive price it wasn’t too damaging,” he added.
It was a similar story for Kindred Group, where Ali Gill revealed the operator came out on top in eight of the 10 top-flight matches played this weekend.
“After the Premier League bloodbath of last weekend, things definitely went our way this weekend with 8 out of 10 games leaving us in the black and with a healthy margin,” said Gill.
“We managed to squeeze a healthy profit out of the Manchester derby, but the headline results for us were unsurprisingly Arsenal and Chelsea drawing, leaving winning accas light on the ground.”
Several punters still managed a win on the football however, including one BetBull tipster helped out by results in the Championship.
“West Brom’s drubbing of Leeds helped one acca tipster turn £20 into more than £2,400 on a Saturday night six-fold that also included wins for Spurs and Atletico Madrid,” said BetBull’s Jamie Hinks.
I tried my best and gave it everything I had! You my friend @usykaa are a great champion and the best fighter I have ever faced. You beat me fair and square.. I only wish you well going forward and thank you for the opportunity. 👊

Away from the football, bet365’s Steve Freeth said the operator cleaned up on Tony Bellew’s emotional defeat in the ring to Oleksandr Usyk.
The Merseyside boxer retired after the fight, insisting he won’t be seen in a ring again, much to the delight of Freeth: “Bellew backers have had us on the ropes in the past when’s he won against the odds but his defeat against Usyk meant we came out of this bout on top.”
