This week’s news round-up includes a new Android launch from bet365, big growth from Mr Green and new launches from Betfred, Ontario Lottery and Sky Bet
Bet365 has launched its first app on the Google Play Store with bet365 News app going live last week on the Android platform. The non-gambling app features sports and horse racing news and updates including odds from bet365, but contains no direct links to the gambling website or app. It’s the latest in a series of non-gambling marketing apps on the Google Play Store including Paddy Power’s Odds Calculator and the Bettting.Betfair tips app.
Casino operator Mr Green said its mobile casino now accounts for 20.3% of total gross win and it will continue to make “significant” investment in the channel over the course of the year as it looks to increase that percentage. “We expect continued robust growth in the platform in pace with our gaming suppliers delivering more mobile titles,” Mikael Pawlo, Mr Green Group CEO, said. Total mobile gross win in Q1 2014 was SEK31.3 million (â¬3.5m), a rise of 93% on the same period in 2013.
The Toronto-based agency Plastic Mobile has signed a deal to be the mobile vendor of record for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. The agency will be providing a full spectrum of services for OLGâs upcoming mobile initiatives, including strategy, design, development, and marketing. OLG will launch an internet gaming platform, PlayOLG.ca this year with interactive casino-style games for online play including slots, video poker and table games.
Betfred.com has launched its first campaign targeting the UK mobile casino market with the release of new âHave more fun with your fingersâ TV ads. The âfun and friendlyâ campaign, created in conjunction with advertising agency BJL, launched on Friday and will run for a six-month period. The ads will appear during light-entertainment shows such as Made in Chelsea and The Only Way is Essex. Betfredâs online MD Chris Sheffield said the launch ties in with the operator now boasting a full suite of mobile products.
Sky Bet is to stream live UK football matches on its mobile devices for the first time as part of a month-long trial covering 15 matches in May. The operator signed a deal with live streaming and catch-up TV services supplier Simplestream to give sportsbook customers access to the play-off matches in Englandâs Sky Bet-sponsored Championship, League 1 and League 2 competitions across both mobile and desktop devices. Sky Bet currently offers live streaming on Spanish La Liga football matches, as well as a wide range of horse racing.
