Trustly lands new CFO
Payments specialist adds highly experienced Mats Backman to senior leadership team

Trustly has appointed Mats Backman as the group’s new chief financial officer (CFO).
Backman will join the payments solution specialist from Veoneer, a New York-listed automotive technology firm, where he also served as CFO.
Backman joined Veoneer in April 2019 after spending three years as CFO at Autoliv.
The former Ernst & Young auditor also held the same role at engineering services firm Sandvik and Helsinki-based banking group Nordea.
As CFO, Backman will be responsible for managing Trustly’s financial roadmap and will report into group CEO Oscar Berglund.
Speaking on Backman’s arrival, Berglund said: “We are excited to welcome Mats to the Trustly team. He joins us with a wealth of industry, technology and financial expertise, alongside a proven senior leadership track record.
“All of this, coupled with extensive international experience gained at world-leading corporations, will be vital for Trustly given our hypergrowth in the US, strong continued growth in Europe and future expansion plans,” he added.
Backman commented: “Trustly is the undisputed global leader in online banking payments, a payment solution that is growing rapidly. I am thrilled to be part of the team and bring further experience to support the global expansion.”
